Blackwood Black Diamond Freebase E-Liquid 30mL

Blackwood Black Diamond Freebase E-Liquid 30mL

Black Diamond is a light tobacco cured with oak — the plainest, most cigarette-like flavour Blackwood makes, here as a 65/35 freebase for tanks and mouth-to-lung devices. $18.99 for 30mL at UniVape, which is 63 cents per mL and the lowest federal-rate price on Blackwood freebase in Canada. Stocked in 3mg, 6mg and 12mg. The full range is on the Blackwood freebase collection.

The flavour

A light but robust tobacco on the inhale, smooth rather than sharp, with the oak curing underneath giving it a dry, woody edge and a crisp clean finish. Nothing is sweetening it — no cream, no fruit, no menthol. In a tank at higher wattage the oak opens up more than it does in a pod, which is the main reason people who have tried both prefer this version of the flavour. If you want a tobacco that tastes like tobacco and nothing else, this is the bottle.

The nearest flavour in the line is Blue Diamond, the same tobacco with menthol. Duke is the heavier, drier step up and Double Barrel the sweeter one. For a pod rather than a tank, buy the salt nic version of this flavour instead.

How it compares

At $18.99 for 30mL, this is 63 cents per mL. Canadian retailers pricing at the federal excise rate sell Blackwood freebase at $19.95 to $21.95, rising to $26.99 and beyond where the provincial stamp applies, so this is the cheapest Blackwood freebase in the country. On our own shelf it undercuts Kapow freebase 30mL at 67 cents per mL — though Kapow's 60mL bottle at 58 cents is still the cheapest liquid per mL we sell, if you do not mind a fruit or candy flavour. Compared with the salt version of this same flavour at 83 cents per mL, the freebase is the cheaper way to vape Black Diamond, provided you have the hardware for it.

Who it suits and picking a strength

This is a 65/35 freebase, which means a refillable tank or a mouth-to-lung device rather than a small low-power pod. As a rule, 3mg suits a sub-ohm tank at higher wattage, 6mg sits in the middle, and 12mg is for low-power MTL setups.

If you need the hardware, we carry it: the SMOK TFV18 sub-ohm tank with its mesh coils, and the Vaporesso GEN MAX 220W box mod to run it on. The 80W pod kits take sub-ohm mesh coils and handle this blend well too — the SMOK Nord 6 and the SMOK IPX 80. For 12mg on a tighter mouth-to-lung draw, a Uwell Caliburn G5 is the simpler option. If a small low-power pod is all you have, buy the 20mg salt version instead.

Blackwood Black Diamond freebase — frequently asked questions

What does Black Diamond taste like?

A light, smooth tobacco cured with oak, finishing clean and dry. No sweetener, cream, fruit or menthol.

What is the difference between this and the salt version?

Same flavour, different blend. This is 65/35 freebase in 3mg to 12mg for tanks and MTL devices; the salt is 50/50 at 20mg for pods.

Which strength should I buy?

3mg for a sub-ohm tank at higher wattage, 6mg as a middle ground, 12mg for a low-power mouth-to-lung setup.

What device do I need for it?

A sub-ohm tank on a box mod, or an 80W pod kit running a mesh coil. We stock the SMOK TFV18 tank, the Vaporesso GEN MAX mod and the SMOK Nord 6 and IPX 80 kits, so you can buy the liquid and the hardware together.
